Sri Lankan Gem & Jewellery Sector Receives Indian Boost; Thushantha Karunanayake Appointed ICC Representative
Thushantha Karunanayake has been appointed as the Chief Country Representative for Sri Lanka by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). This appointment was announced during the India–Sri Lanka Bilateral Delegation Visit.
A 29-member delegation of professionals from Sri Lanka's Gem and Jewellery sector participated in a specialized training and capacity-building program in India. This program was organized following an announcement by the Prime Minister of India during a visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025.
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), supported by the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi and the Sri Lanka Consulate in Mumbai, is organizing a Sri Lankan Business Delegation to India from August 8 to 13, 2026. This delegation aims to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations and expand opportunities for the gem and jewellery sector.
