SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam arrested and granted bail over IGP statement

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam was summoned and subsequently arrested by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) in connection with a statement he made regarding the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Following his arrest, Kariyawasam was taken to the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. He was later produced before the court.

Subsequently, the SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam was released on bail.

In response to the arrest, Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) Leader MP Mano Ganesan questioned what he described as selective enforcement.
