Drug Trafficker Shiran Basik Extradited from Dubai, Detained in Sri Lanka
Drug trafficker Shiran Basik was brought back to Sri Lanka from Dubai. He was accompanied by two other alleged underworld figures. Upon his return, Basik was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CCIB).
Sri Lanka Police have issued a 72-hour detention order against Shiran Basik, who is identified as a major drug kingpin. Police have also revealed details about the cases against him following his return.
Investigations have been launched into Basik's local assets and criminal connections. Multiple police stations and specialized units are examining various allegations against the 48-year-old Dehiwela resident.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) stated that Sri Lanka Police are working to bring back 73 alleged underworld figures and drug traffickers who are hiding overseas and are on Red Notice.
