Four bank managers arrested in USD 1 billion transfer probe; government reveals new details and plans to criminalize unauthorized transfers
Four managers from private banks have been arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) in connection with a probe into the alleged transfer of USD 1 billion (approximately Rs 300 billion) overseas. The Fort Magistrate court remanded the four suspects until August 20 for further investigations.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister revealed new details regarding the alleged transfers, stating that a total of Rs. 74 billion was transferred overseas through 10,151 transactions using 89 bank accounts.
Separately, the government is moving to criminalize unauthorized overseas fund transfers.
