Sri Lanka Army's 77th Anniversary Marked by Promotions, School Recognition, and Commemoration of Intake 16
The Sri Lanka Army marked its 77th anniversary with several events. Over 2,000 Army Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) were promoted as part of the anniversary celebrations.
In addition, the Army recognized 12 schools for contributing the highest number of currently serving officers and soldiers. Among the schools honored were Ananda, Devi Balika, Kebithigollewa Central, and Kegalu Balika.
Separately, there was a commemoration of Intake 16, marking 45 years since 26 individuals began their service in the Sri Lanka Army. This event highlighted a significant chapter in the Army's history.
Why it scored 4/10: The event involves promotions and recognition within the military, which is of moderate interest, but lacks major national impact or policy changes, making it minor national news.
